The TV series Masterchef showed us all that children are interested in food and cooking. We can’t expect them all to be the whizzes some of the Junior Masterchef contestants proved to be, but getting children into the kitchen is a great idea and good fun for everybody. Usborne are a well known publisher of books for children covering a huge range of information and activity books, as well as cookbooks. This large format hardback is a great place to start. It has a covered spiral binding so that it will lay flat on the kitchen bench and has a lot of recipes for main courses as well as some desserts. There is even one for bread. There are lots of photos and step by step illustrations. With Christmas and the school holidays coming up, a productive activity such as cooking is a great thing to do. Well priced at $19.95, the book is well worth a look.
