The Geometry of Pasta by Caz Hildebrand & Jacob Kenedy

The Geometry of Pasta is an unusual cookbook in these days of glossy, colourful books.  It is a smallish hardback with a striking black & white cover, and only black and white illustrations inside.  But they are wonderful!  There are recipes and methods for making pasta, but most of the books is devoted to describing what types and shapes of pasta is best with what sauce,  and explanations are given as to why that is so.  The illustrator Jacob Kenedy got the inspiration for his drawings from a wallchart of plumbing grommets!  He realised that the clean, simple drawings really showed off the pasta shapes beautifully.  And they do.  One for keen pasta makers and pasta eaters.  Hardback, $45
