Mr McGee and the Elephants by Pamela Allen

We love Pamela Allen at Fairfieldbooks.  Who sank the boat has been on our ‘Favourites’ shelves for years.  A new Mr McGee is always welcome and this new adventure features an animal that everyone loves, elephants.  Mr McGee climbs a tree to get some apples, and then is rescued by and elephant.  Then the elephant tries to climb the tree and so it goes……

In her familiar rhyming style, this is another winner.

In hardback, it’s $25.

Nana’s Colours

A Beautiful Introduction to the Wonder of Colours!

The much-loved children’s author Pamela Allen (of Who Sank the Boat, Hetty’s Day Out, and I Wish I had a Pirate Suit fame, to name a few!) is back with another gloriously illustrated hardback picture book for early learners (6 to 24 months).

It’s Nana’s birthday and she is being given many beautiful bunches of flowers in various colours.  The illustrations look like the’ve been made by cut-out shapes of raw potato dipped in paint, remember making those in kindergarten?! A great introduction for infants and toddlers.

Available in hardback only, in store now!

Nana’s Colours, rrp $19.95

Hetty’s Day Out by Pamela Allen

I love Pamela Allen’s books. Ever since I first read Bertie and the Bear to my little ones all those years ago my kids and I have been big fans. Her books are always clever, engaging and full of quirky humour that appeals to both children and adults. And they’re really fun to read out loud which, believe me, is very important when you’re reading the same book night after night!

Her latest is Hetty’s Day Out, about Hetty the cat who has a very busy day. Hetty goes on a walk to visit her friends in the neighbourhood, and they all give her something tasty to eat: one plate of baked beans, two pork pies, three lamb chops, and more. By the time she wobbles home she has eaten so much that she gets stuck in her cat flap! What will Hetty do?

This is yet another delightful book from Pamela Allen, full of her unique illustrations and signature wit. There’s plenty of  the repetition and playful use of language that kids love, plus they can count all the things Hetty eats. Sure to become another favourite! HB $24.95. Fiona
