National Bookshop Day
Thank you to everyone who popped by to help us celebrate National Bookshop Day on Sunday! By the end of the day our window was resplendent with all your favourite books, and our never-ending story had twists and turns galore. We had a fantastic time with yummy cupcakes, marshmallow pops and lots of great giveaways. Even the weather co-operated! But it wouldn’t have been half so much fun without all our wonderful authors, who visited to chat about books and hand out sweet treats. So a big, big thank you to Tony Wilson, Jen Storer, Michael Pryor, Deborah Robertson, Fran Cusworth, Kylie Ladd and Zana Fraillon. And last but not least, thank you to the fabulous team of Geoffrey McSkimming and Sue-Anne Webster for their truly marvellous magic show!

National Bookshop Day Saturday August 11th.
On Saturday August 11th we will be celebrating National Bookshop Day. We have a programme of authors helping us to do it, so you can take the opportunity to meet some local writers. There is a mixture of adult and children’s authors coming throughout the day, and their times are listed at the bottom here. As well as having them here, Geoffrey McSkimming and his partner will be performing a magic show to help launch his new book, Phyllis Wong and the Forgotten Secrets of Mr Kyoto.
We will have cupcakes, quizzes and raffles going on during the day as well.
It will be a fun day of celebrating bookshops in the community and we need your help to do it.

National Bookshop Day Saturday August 11th.
Last year we had the first National Bookshop Day in Australia and it was an opportunity to focus on the value of shops in local communities. It’s on again this year on Saturday August 11th and we have a fun day planned. We have a line-up of authors here from 10am until 2.30 who will be out in the street talking about reading and books. There will also be a magic show with Geoffrey McSkimming to help launch his new book Phyllis Wong and the forgotten secrets of Mr Okyto. We will have cupcakes, quizzes and giveaways.
Last year we asked people to write on the shop window the name of their favourite book which brought out the graffiti artist in lots of people. We will be doing something similar this year., but you will have to wait and see exactly what we are doing.
The shop will be open 9-5 as usual and we will have raffle tickets for anyone who buys a book on the day. Prizes will be books and book vouchers.
Come along and help up celebrate bookshops and reading. The world would be much the poorer without both of those things, so pop in during the day. and check out what’s going on. See below for the authors and their appearance times.

National Bookshop Day: Thank you.
As most of you will know, it was National Bookshop Day on Saturday last. It was a day of celebrating our local book communities and having some fun. It was an initiative of The Australian Bookseller’s Association and many member bookshops around Australia too part in varying ways. We had some local authors with us, handed out over 200 mini cupcakes and lots of prizes. We have a wonderful tree drawn on our window with the favourite books of many of our customers. We will leave it up there for the rest of this week, so come and have a look. All in all in was a terrific day, and thank you to all who made it so, especially the authors who came along, Michael Pryor, Zana Fraillon, Kylie Ladd and Jen Storer.

National Bookshop Day
It’s National Bookshop Day on Saturday August 20th. Here at Fairfieldbooks we are planning to have a bit of fun, with quizzes, giveaways & prizes. AND cupcakes. Come down to Station St between 11.30-2.30 when we will have some local authors helping us celebrate. Jen Storer, Michale Pryor & Kylie Ladd will be having some fun with us. It’s all about enjoying your local community and retail shopping strips. Go Local!

The book industry has been going through a lot of changes in the last little while, but we are wanting to lighten the mood.
Saturday August 20th is National Bookshop Day to celebrate local bookshops in Australia.
Between 11.30-2.30 on the day we will have some local authors here, quizzes, giveaways, prizes & cupcakes! Come down for some fun.
