Children’s Book Council Awards Shortlist

The shortlists for the various categories of the Children’s Book Council Awards has been announced.  This is a showcase of Australian writing for children, and we are very happy to see that some local authors have been included in the lists.  Nicki Greenberg is on the picture book short list for her  pictorial depiction of Shakespeare’s Hamlet and Michael Pryor is on the notable list for the installment of his Laws of Magic series Moment of Truth. Well done to both of them.

CBC Winners 2010 Announced

The Children’s Book Council of Australia have announced the winners of their 2010 award for books published in 2009.

Books of the Year:

Young Adult - Jarvis 24 by David Metzenthen.

Younger Readers – Darius Bell and the Glitter Pool by Odo Hirsch

Early Childhood – Bear & Chook by the Sea by Lisa Shanahan, illustrated by Emma Quay

Picture Book – The Hero of Little Street by Gregory Rogers

Information Book – Australian Backyard Explorer by Peter Macinnis
