For those of you who loved The Billionaire’s Curse (PB $19.95) just as much as we did, the second book in The Billionaire Trilogy has finally arrived. In The Emerald Casket, 13-year-old billionaire, Gerald, delves deeper into the mystery surrounding his aunt’s death, a story that seems to begin thousands of years ago, with Gerald’s distant ancestors. To add to the bizarreness that is his new life as a teenage billionaire, Gerald discovers his family is somehow tied to a pact made by three brothers to spread three secret caskets to the furthest corners of the Roman Empire. To escape England, his newfound fame and all things strange, Gerald, with friends Sam and Ruby, travel to India on Gerald’s private jet for a well deserved holiday. They stay with the beautiful Alisha and are determined to have the time of their lives, but little do they know, the mystery will follow them halfway around the world. Once again, the friends become ensnared in a hunt for something they don’t really understand, but must find before it falls into the wrong hands. The second book in this great adventure trilogy certainly does not disappoint! Recommended for tweens 11+. PB $19.95.

After the success of her first series, The Shadow Thief, The Lampo Circus & Von Gobstopper’s Arcade, young author Adornetto (who was only 13 when she wrote her first novel!), has a new series just out. Realising that supernatural romance is where it’s at, Adornetto’s new series is just that, though with notably more wings and less fangs than is typical.
Halo is the story of angels on earth. Beth, Gabriel and Ivy are sent down from heaven to restore calm, kindness and good in the people of Venus Cove, a sleepy town by the beach. But where there are good forces at work there must also be evil, a lesson the angels are destined to learn all too well when Jake arrives in town. Jake is charming but dangerous, which makes him altogether attractive to the unsuspecting locals. Beth is the only one who seems to realise just how deadly Jake could be. While working to banish Jake is a difficult task, Beth is finding it even harder to hide who she really is from Xavier, the handsome school captain. Angels are not supposed to fall in love, and they are definitely not supposed to have boyfriends, but Beth soon realises there is nothing she wouldn’t do to stay on earth with Xavier.
Part love story, part adventure, Adornetto’s latest offering is sure to be an instant hit.
Recommended for girls 13+. PB $25.
