Comfort Food For Mums

Comfort Food by Gary Mehigan (HB, $49.95)

Just as the title suggests, ‘Masterchef’ judge Gary Mehigan’s new cookbook is a warm, delicious and simple affair that is perfect for the colder months.

From the very first page (Ricotta pancakes with date and banana butter) there are fabulous dishes that cover every area of food. You most definitely do not have to be a ‘Masterchef’ to tackle this book and Gary provides tips and explanations for the best results all the way through.

Unlike many cookbooks ‘Comfort Food’ contains meals that you could actually cook on a regular basis that can be enjoyed by almost everyone. Most recipes use lovely fresh ingredients but nothing so bizarre that you need a specialist shop and a platinum credit card to purchase them. Classics like spaghetti and meatballs and grilled prawns have been revamped along with some new creations to create a fantastic hardcover cookbook that would make a perfect gift for Mother’s Day or anyone who loves to cook!
