With its flagship store on Portobello Road, The Hummingbird Bakery is a London institution. Selling classic American desserts like red velvet cake and key lime pie, The Hummingbird Bakery is most famous for its beautiful cupcakes. With the book just released, The Hummingbird Bakery Cookbook (HB $35.00), we can now cook these cute cakes just like the bakery’s founder Tarek Malouf and all the Hummingbird bakers do. While the largest chapter covers cupcakes of every conceivable variety, from the ever popular vanilla, to strawberry cheesecake and peaches and cream creations, the book also covers large cakes, pies, brownies and bars, muffins and finally cookies. Being that it is my most favourite cake of all time AND the bakery’s namesake, I can’t wait to try the recipe for hummingbird cake!
